Sexually Transmitted Diseases

STDs and STIs

Sexually transmitted diseases and sexually transmitted infections are very common today.
If you believe you may be pregnant, you owe it to yourself to know the whole truth. Your future reproductive health and even your life may depend on it.

Free STD Testing and STI Testing

Of people who have either chlamydia or gonorrhea, 75-80% do not know they have these infections. This is especially true with women, because they routinely do not have symptoms. The only way to know for sure is to be tested for STDs and STIs. At Willow Women’s Center if you have a positive pregnancy test and ultrasound, we provide free testing for chlamydia and gonorrhea. We use the urine you provided for your pregnancy test for the STD test, so there is no need for additional samples or drawing blood.

Abortion and Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

Before having an abortion it is very important to be tested for these two STDs. During the abortion procedure the bacteria can be transferred through your cervix into your uterus, which can cause Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). PID can be very painful, and it can lead to infertility problems and/or an ectopic pregnancy in the future. Treatment for these STDs is usually just an oral prescription. If you test positive for gonorrhea or chlamydia and have an abortion before you are treated, your risk of getting PID increases.
